Dymo LabelWriter 550 is a winner

My previous LabelWriter was 7 years old so as I had just replaced my laptop, it was time to upgrade. It's an incredible improvement both hardware and software over my old model. The LabelWriter knows the label size loaded and even knows how many are left: now that's spooky! The software is an enormous improvement over the previous version with an excellent, modern user interface. It also has an import facility so I could continue to use all the labels I already had. All in all a perfect label printer. The only I would have liked would be a wireless connection rather than using a USB port.

GOOD BUY

Great printer easy to set up. HOWEVER unlike the 450 this do not accept compatible labels, which are costly for the genuine ones!!!! I still prefer the 450 for that reason.

Capable - but fiddly.

Used a Demo 330 Turbo very happily for several years for business and personal tasks. I found the 550 much more fiddly and less intuitive to use, starting with inability to import Apple Contacts and need to specify each element of a label. Limited to Demo brand labels.
