The printer uses four ink cartridges to print photos up to 4800 by 1200dpi resolution. It can print a photo in about 19 seconds and it is rated for a monthly print cycle of upwards of 1,000 pages. It prints monochrome pages at 11 pages per minute and full colour images at 8 pages per minute.

The copy part of the 5524 is capable of copying at 600 by 600dpi and it can create 30 copies at a time. The copier can also be used independently of the PC to reduce or enlarge images. The flatbed scanner can scan at a maximum of 1200 by 1200dpi and users can operate the copier or the scanner via the 6.74cm colour touchscreen. Users can send print jobs from mobile devices, including tablets and smartphones, via wireless connectivity.
