At first glance the (tongue twisting) HP Photosmart Premium Touchsmart C309n is a sleek model which has a touchscreen marking it out from many other printers on the market.

A feature which can be uncommon for many printers is a welcome addition here, as the C309n has a dual paper input tray that has been introduced. The build quality is adequate and for those who print often, it’s reassuring to know that paper jams are few and far between.

The C309n printer uses five standard ink cartridges for black, photo black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. It’s an easy to use machine with a touchscreen more akin to a smartphone than a home printer.

Included in the display are a number of apps which you can delete at the swipe of a finger and despite the welcome introduction of an interactive menu, some of the apps can be problematic. In terms of performance, this Touchsmart prints to a high standard and text appears sharp. For those who are looking for a machine specifically for photo printing, the quality may feel slightly weaker than other printers in the same price range but that is not to say that it isn’t a high-performing device and the print speeds are impressively quick.
