What is in this maintenance box?
i.e. what does it do exactly?
A maintenance box is another name for a waste ink box. It basically collects all the waste ink and will eventually become full and need replacing. It usually sits at the front of the rear of the printer and is easily changed by the end user. Your printer will alert you when it is getting low and will soon need replacing. Once it is full, you will not be able to print until it is changed.
