Brother DCP-1610W Mono Laser Printer (Wireless)

Bought for a friend studdeling with printing on a small scale printer, bought this for them prints large amounts with in second what took up hours work has been cut by more then half

Don't buy it if using a Chromebook as there is no driver interface. Otherwise it's great and cheap to buy and run

It doesn't take up much space on the desk and it was easy to set up, too. The only downside for me is that it doesn't do double-sided prints or scan multiple page documents, which I should have researched more before purchase.

Does he job well. Nice crisp type. I needed a usb cord and glad I bought it at the time so I could use it straight away. It’s a little noisy and clunky but for the price it definitely does the job .

Easy to set up with clear instructions, fast operation and excellent quality Mono prints. My only complaint is with the tiny information 'window' which really could do with being backlit as it is almost impossible to read without a torch .

The printer arrived next day even though it was ordered during the holiday period. Very pleased with service.

Reasons for choice: Being a light user, previous inkjet cartridge nozzles continually blocked up, quality often poor with bleeding & micro lines developing across the paper over time. Mainly use mono prints (can obtain high quality colour prints from the high street or online if needed). The laser technology allows me use the printer without any degradation over time & the print quality is far superior, very sharp with no bleeding onto the paper. Brother is a firmly established Japanese technology with British roots. Excellent value with cheaper than average toner replacement. My experience: Printer arrived quickly, unpacked carefully & instructions read before commissioning. Lifted main cover to reveal drum carrier which can be gently lifted forward & out with yellow warning card not to touch the drum. Toner cartridge gently inserted into carrier using tabs & the drum assembly slid downwards into printer gently but firmly to engage with mechanism cogs on lhs. By dropping down front panel, the A4 paper can be placed in the tray. The guides need care when adjusting to meet the paper size (side & front). Printer powered & the initial prompt for English language chosen. I chose to copy a sheet to check the printer's mechanical integrity. The readout & buttons are simple & intuitive. I used the ‘one-push’ wireless setup to connect the printer to the router by depressing both the printer wi-fi button & then the WPS button on the router. The wi-fi indicator remains on after initial flashing to indicate connection. It also sent a confirmation print I am using MacOS 11 x. x. So I had to go to the Brother website (ignore other websites) to find the correct driver. I noticed that for MacOS 11 there was only a scanner upgrade so I inputted MacOS 10 to get the correct last driver update. This was downloaded & installed successfully. Hey presto I was able to print remotely - thank you Cartridge People!

I'm very impressed with this printer. Build quality is top notch. It was a bit fiddly to connect wireless initially but now it connect to my router every time. Print quality is sharp and impressive. The copier and scanner feature makes this printer very versatile. It ideally suited to a small office but its also not too large to be used at home.
