Ideal for digital camera owners, the Canon Pixma MP480 possesses memory card slots and PictBridge support to provide high quality, PC-free printing.

Thanks to a 4800 x 1200dpi print resolution, photos will appear vibrant and sharp with two FINE cartridges delivering a high standard of photo and document printing. Photo prints will also be produced in quick time with a borderless 10 x 15cm photo printed in 45 seconds.

As well as the printing functionality, a 2400dpi flatbed scanner is included which can provide users with superb colour scans. By just clicking the scan button, an Auto Scan Mode will recognise the type of photo or document to be scanned automatically. For added convenience, scans can be saved directly onto a memory card or USB stick.

Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint EX software is able to correct and enhance images whilst Auto Photo Fix will help users achieve excellent results every time.

Helping to maximise the potential of this multifunctional device is a Quick Start function meaning users can access all of the printer’s functions within seconds of turning it on.

The flip-panel so often used by Canon when styling its Pixma printers is on show here which helps the usability of a machine that could easily suit a home environment where family members may want a variety of print jobs.

It may be possible to print directly from a mobile phone but the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity is a drawback for families where a printer may need to be accessed from various rooms. The print quality does make up for this whether printing photos or documents and print speeds aren’t as slow as you might expect from an entry-level printer.

Another machine may offer more in the way of connectivity options and features but so far as the price you pay for your printing goes, the MP480 is an excellent home machine.
