An entry-level addition to the Photosmart range, the C4580 is well designed and has minimal controls for printing, scanning and copying that are complemented by a small LCD screen. To keep the size as small as possible, a 100-sheet input tray is easily folded out for prints and doubles up as the output tray as paper swivels 180-degrees during printing.

In terms of quality, colour reproduction is as good as you would expect from an award-winning brand such as HP, and using the company’s Advanced Photo Paper really adds an extra level of detail. Optical resolution for copying and scanning is 1200 x 1200dpi and print resolution is 1200 x 2400dpi. These specifications are nothing spectacular but the results will please most everyday users.

Featuring twin memory card slots for memory stick, SD/MMC and xD cards is a definite bonus for those that like to print without the need for a computer, plus there is the added advantage of Easy Wi-Fi, which can be set up relatively easily via a USB connection.
