Pros: quality performance

Cons: poor ink monitoring

Well performing network printer. Only gripe is that the ink low warnings are completely unreliable showing low well before they actually are. The duplex printing module is also not available in the UK as far as I can tell

Pros: fast quiet printing

Cons: poor software and connectivity with mac

This printer is not the cheapest in the range, and I bought it partly because it offers network printing. You connect it to your wireless modem via ethernet and then should be able to print from any computer on the network, wired or wireless. All I needed was a printer that would print my documents on plain paper without any fuss. This is not that printer - it routinely refuses to print documents, apparently because of the particular program I happen to be using at any time. Sometimes it prints one page then refuses to do any more. Sometimes it just won't print.
It has automatic paper type selection which does not always allow the user to select a particular paper. Print quality is OK, and I have used it to print on to photo quality paper, which gives good colour and tonal range.
My overall experience is that the printer is not reliable because of issues with connectivity - I expect to be able to connect a device and get it to work without any fuss. I use an iMac, and HP say their printers are Mac compatible, which they are to an extent, but there do seem to be some issues with it recognising some programs. The software includes an option to check for updates - in 18 months this has never successfully connected with the website, so I've done it manually.
It has a USB port for connecting a camera, though I've never used it.

The honeymoon doesn't last

Pros: cheap to buy.

Cons: not so cheap to run even on compatibles.

This printer was OK for a few months,with very acceptable results, but the bottom line is always how long is it until it clogs up, and this particular unit has slid downhill fast, and refused to successfully self- clean. It's been in frequent use, and with a good mix of tasks, but it hasn't helped. A typical cheap initial outlay and costly cartridge scenario I'm afraid.
